Hong Kong Victoria Peak Tower

The Hong Kong Victoria Peak Tower is the wok-shaped modern structure with the shopping arcades, restaurants and viewing platform at the summit of the Peak.

This is where the Peak Tram will bring you and where the Terminus station is.

At the Peak Tower you will find:

When you first arrive, if coming with the Peak Tram, you will enter the Peak Tower via the Peak Market, which is a gauntlet full of souvenir shops, and getting past it might prove to be a challenge, so be warned...

Then you come into the heart of Hong Kong's Peak Tower, the shops, restaurants and entertainment venues spread accross the different floors and the wall to wall windows give you a peek into what's to come...

...A series of escalators that connect all levels of the tower will bring you to the top until you reach the Viewing Platform at Sky Terrace.

Victoria Peak Sky Terrace

The Sky Terrace 428 in the top level of the Peak Tower, is the 360 open-air viewing platform where you can enjoy dazzling panoramic vistas of the harbour, the new territories and as far as the surrounding islands (on a clear day).

At 428 meters above sea level, this is Hong Kong's highest viewing terrace and the sight is just fabulous, one of Hong Kong's "must see's".

Is it worth it or can you have the same views from the other free viewing areas?

Victoria Peak Sky Terrace Ticket

The views from the Peak Galleria are very similar, except that from a lower terrace, you can take a look at some pictures taken from the Peak Galleria Viewing Terrace and compare.

Personally, we really liked the Sky Terrace and thought it was worth it. The extra fee is reasonable, (it's less than US$7). The kids really enjoyed playing with the telescopes also.

If it was rainy/cloudy/overcast/polluted as it often can be, I would think twice, since the visibility might not be as good, but on a clear day, might as well go all the way!

Madame Tussaud's Wax Museum

Madame Tussauds Hong Kong

Also in the Peak Tower is the Madame Tussaud's Wax Museum. It is quite small but great for a laugh and a little fun, specially if it is scorching hot outside, it's a nice break in the aircon.

This Madame Tussauds is like the European/American counterparts with an Asian twist, you see Jackie Chan and Bruce Lee, of course, next to the likes of the Royal Family, the Beatles, Marilyn Monroe, Michael Jackson, you name it.

There are props here and there, hair pieces, dresses and accessories for you to try on and take some fun pictures with your idols.

Souvenir Shopping at Hong Kong Victoria Peak: the Peak Market

Victoria Peak Market

Peak Market is the orderly air conditioned version of the Ladies Market or Temple Street Market. Here you can find all kinds of knick knacks and souvenirs, from t-shirts, silk embroideries, cheap magnets to fancy carvings, vases and cloissone.

Peak Market Souvenir Shopping

If bargaining or sorting through piles of stuff to find what you need is not your cup of tea, then Peak Market is the place. All prices are clearly indicated, merchandise is neatly placed and all sizes and styles clearly marked.

Prices might be slightly higher than at the markets, but the merchandise is still very reasonably priced. We even found several knick knacks that we didn't see anywhere else, and had to come back and get them.

We hope you enjoy your time at the Peak, come back and tell us about it!
